COMMITTEES

The Hurley Rec is an association that relies on its members to operate. The Hurley Rec Board of Directors is encouraging all members to take an active role in making the Hurley Rec a fun, inclusive, family-oriented place to be. Active participation in a committee will fulfill your membership work hour obligations. Below is a description of the many opportunities for our members to participate.

Hurley Rec Committee Descriptions

Pool Maintenance Committee

    • 7-10 Members
    • Reports to Director of Pool Maintenance (Chairperson of Pool Maintenance Committee)
    • Participate in scheduled pool maintenance events
    • Participate in Pool “Cover Off” / “Opening” Activates
    • Participate in Pool “Cover On” / “Winterizing” Activities
    • Participate in in-season and off-season pool maintenance activities

Swim Team Committee

    • 4-5 Members
    • Reports to Director of Swim Team (Chairperson of Swim Committee)
    • Participate in scheduled meetings
    • Plan for the upcoming season
    • Maintain swim team equipment
    • Plan and execute swim meets
    • Plan and execute swim team events
    • Participate in DUSO organization
    • Responsible for planning and execution of Swim Team Fundraising Strategy

Recruitment / Membership Committee

    • 3-5 Members
    • Reports to Director of Membership (Chairperson of Recruitment/Membership Committee)
    • Participate in scheduled meetings
    • Help maintain the content of Hurley Rec Website and Facebook page
    • Maintain monthly Hurley Rec Newsletter
    • Plan and execute a membership recruitment strategy
    • Plan and execute membership retention strategy
    • Work with Social Committee regarding planning and execution of membership recruitment and retention events.

Personnel Committee

    • 3-5 Members
    • Reports to Director of Personnel (Chairperson of Personnel Committee)
    • Participate in scheduled meetings
    • Plan and execute an employee recruitment strategy
    • Responsible for Hiring Recommendations
    • Participate in employee compensation bench marking activities

Fundraising Committee

    • 3-5 Members
    • Reports to Chairperson of Fundraising Committee
    • Participate in scheduled meetings
    • Responsible for planning and execution of Hurley Rec Fundraising Strategy
    • Work with other Hurley Rec Committees on planning and execution of Hurley Rec Fundraising Strategy
    • Make yearly recommendations, by September 1, to the Hurley Rec Board of Directors regarding Membership and Program Pricing

Social Committee

    • 5-6 Members
    • Reports to Chairperson of Social Committee
    • Participate in scheduled meetings
    • Plan and execute Hurley Rec Parties and Activities
    • Work with Hurley Rec Park Director and Camp Director to make the Hurley Rec inclusive, fun, and family-focused.
    • Work with Recruitment/Membership Committee regarding planning and execution of membership recruitment and retention events.

Landscaping/Beautification Committee

    • 7-10 Members
    • Reports to Director of Park Maintenance and Director of Work Hours
    • Help with preseason, in-season, and post-season landscaping activities
    • Help maintain the aesthetics of Hurley Rec
    • Gardening
    • Mowing, weeding, and other landscaping activities

Park Maintenance Committee

    • 7-10 Members
    • Reports to Director of Park Maintenance and Director of Work Hours
    • Help with preseason, in-season, and post-season park maintenance activities
    • Keep the park in good working order
    • Work may involve Construction, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, Fence Repair, Small Engine Repair, and General “Handy Man” Activities
    • Help with Seasonal “Start-Up” and “Shut-Down” Activities

Additional notes

  • A member can be a part of multiple committees
  • Size and number of committees are at the discretion of the President of the Hurley Rec
  • Committee assignments will be at the request of the member and the discretion of the Hurley Rec Board of Directors
